Pride of Safford Award

History of the Award

Between 1994 and 1996 the City Council and top city management worked on coming up with a value statement, a vision statement, and a mission statement. The mission statement said that it was the mission for the City of Safford to make the City of Safford a great place to work, live, and visit. We examined what the important factors were to accomplish this mission. The natural beauty was a major factor, along with great government. The main factor, however, was the people: the unsung heroes, who by the fabric or their lives, reached out and touched others with their love - people who were willing to do whatever possible to make life better for everyone. The Pride of Safford Award was implemented to recognize these people. This is the most prestigious award given by the city.

The receiving of the Pride of Safford Award is a recognition that you have gone above and beyond what was necessary to make the City of Safford a great place to work, live, and visit. Nominations may be made in two categories: Pride in Service (Individual, Youth or Group who has gone over and beyond in volunteer service in Safford for the community) or Pride in Ownership (a home or business owner who has beautified, restored and/or improved their home or business).
