Early childhood programs

The Safford City - Graham County Library receives grant funding from First Things First to provide educational programs to both Graham and Greenlee Counties. The grant enables the library to provide early literacy programs for caregivers and children birth to 5. The grant also funds the Imagination Library Book Club through which children ages birth to five receive a free, age-appropriate book in the mail each month. Weekly Programs and their times are listed below.

Parent Playbook: Top 5 Tips for Video Chat with Young Children

Imagination Library
Since 2001, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has put free books in the hands of young children across the nation. If you're a resident of Graham or Greenlee County your child can receive free books mailed to your home each month. For questions, please contact our Imagination Library Coordinator at 928-432-4155.

Who is Eligible?
Preschool children (birth until their fifth birthday) of Graham or Greenlee Counties.

What Are My Responsibilities?
1. Submit an official registration form, completely filled out by parent or guardian and return to the Safford City-Graham County Library or 

 2. Notify the Safford Library any time your address changes. Books are mailed to the address on the official registration form. If the child's address changes, you must contact the library in order to continue receiving books.

When Will I Receive Books?  
Eight to ten weeks after your registration form has been received, books will begin arriving at your home and will continue until your child turns five or you move out of Graham or Greenlee County. 

Fun With Math and Science

A free, six-week program for 3 - 5 year olds and their parents. Fun with Math and Science introduces fundamental concepts of math and science using play and books. The library is pleased to be partnering with the Safford Friends of the Library and First Things First.

Classes are Wednesdays from 1-2 PM.
